Gameweek 15 - Our Forward Picks

Our first article this weeks discusses our favourite Forward options. With Aguero suspended for three matches, no doubt a large number of you are considering your options. Let us help you out.

1) Diego Costa

Goal IndexAssist IndexFFStatsHQ Index
13.11 8.36 21.46
Diego Costa has been in solid form all season scoring 4 goals in his last 6 matches, 1 less than Aguero and Kane. He beats the others to the top spot though as he's also provided 3 assists in that time, more than any other forward. He also tops the forward shot assists table with 14. A favourable fixture list over the next 5 weeks will surely see that form continue.

2) Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Goal IndexAssist IndexFFStatsHQ Index
17.52 2.15 19.67
United have only scored 6 goals in the past 6 games but Ibrahimovic has scored 4 of them. After the Spurs game this coming weekend, United have a great run of fixtures to put their early season woes behind them. You can guarantee Ibrahimovic will be front and centre of this effort especially if he can increase his shots on target % from 36%. As well as grabbing the goals, he's also had 11 shot assists in the last 6 games. United's poor run of form has to end soon so Ibrahimovic takes 2nd place in our rankings

3) Harry Kane

Goal IndexAssist IndexFFStatsHQ Index
16.32 2.64 18.95
Harry Kane has made 4 appearances since coming back from injury but has grabbed 5 goals in those games. Despite only playing 4 games, he's had more shots on target than Ibrahimovic and Costa. However, 4 of his goals have come against the leaky defences of Swansea and West Ham which means he only places 3rd in our rankings.

4) Christian Benteke

Goal IndexAssist IndexFFStatsHQ Index
14.47 3.5 17.97
Palace have only 1 win to show for their past 6 games but have scored 13 goals in that time. Only Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have score more. Christian Benteke has scored 4 of his 7 goals this season in these games. The next 6 fixtures could be easier but games against Hull, Swansea and Watford will provide a great opportunity for him to add to his tally.

5) Įlvaro Negredo

Goal IndexAssist IndexFFStatsHQ Index
10.87 3.82 14.69
Middlesbrough have struggled to find the net recently but Negredo has been involved in 3 of their 6 goals (2 goals and an assist). An FFStatsHQ index of 14.69 is a long way below the four players above. However, at £6.3m he's a our highest rated budget option.

6) Victor Anichebe

Goal IndexAssist IndexFFStatsHQ Index
9.44 2.47 11.91
Victor Anchiebe currently sits in the super-budget category at only £4.7m. With only a smattering of early season appearances, he's played every minute of the last 4 games and scored 3 times, also grabbing an assist. Sunderland aren't exactly flying high but upcoming fixtures against Swansea, Watford, Burnley and Liverpool will provide great opportunities for him to cement his place in the team.

7) Jermain Defoe

Goal IndexAssist IndexFFStatsHQ Index
9.55 2.13 11.69
Defoe has been involved in 75% of Sunderland's goals in the last 6 games with 4 goals and 2 assists. Despite scoring an extra goal and assist than Anchiebe, Defoe has played 2 additional games so sits behind him in our forward rankings.

8) Charlie Austin

Goal IndexAssist IndexFFStatsHQ Index
9.32 1.25 10.57
Charlie Austin was hot property not long ago. But Southampton have only managed 3 goals in the past 6 games so he's steadily dropping down our rankings. Upcoming games against Middlesbrough, Stoke and Bournemouth could get them back on track, but expect a big Charlie Austin sell-off soon.

9) Sam Vokes

Goal IndexAssist IndexFFStatsHQ Index
6.62 3.33 9.95
Sam Vokes grabbed 3 goals in 4 games earlier in the season but has failed to find the net in the past 3 matches. Burnley have only scored once in that time. If Burnley find some form, Vokes will be the must-have budget forward. Until then, perhaps Negredo is the better option.

10) Romelu Lukaku

Goal IndexAssist IndexFFStatsHQ Index
4.46 4.82 9.27
Romelu Lukaku was hot property earlier in the season with 6 goals in 5 games. But with only 1 goal in the last 6, he's close to dropping out of our top 10 forwards.

Who's Missing?

Aguero is the obvious absentee from our list. Suspended for 3 games, it's worth transferring him out sooner rather than later to avoid the price drop.
Rondon and Callum Wilson are also missing from the top 10. Rondon has only 1 goal in the past 6 games whilst Callum Wilson has 2
